WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Soon, the Wilmington City Council and Mayor will get raises when city workers do.

On Tuesday night, the council approved the new policy.

Councilwomen Margaret Haynes and Laura Padgett sponsored the resolution that would direct the city manager to apply any future cost of living pay adjustments for general employees to the pay of the mayor and city council.

Elected officials last got a raise in 2006.

Only took them 15 days to spend spend spend.
    Smile :-)

They wouldn’t be able to spend if the voters of Wilmington had bothered to vote.

Now that City Council has invoked their own personal “pay to play” rule, city employees should have little to worry about.

With the freshly re-minted “do whatever you want” mandate put in place by the “voters”, one can only speculate about any other possible “pay to play” deals that allegedly may have occurred quite recently.

With the huge amounts of money the Mayor and Council make disappear, I think they should have to pay to be public “self servants.”
