WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- In downtown Wilmington, the city Christmas tree is in a new location this year.
Instead of its traditional home in Riverfront Park, it is across the street in the open lot at the corner of Princess and Water streets.
The city had to change spots because of weight restrictions in the park due to work on the bulkhead underneath. Kim Adams with the city says the Christmas tree has a two-ton concrete block anchoring it.
When work is done, future events will move back to Riverfront Park.
