WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Another familiar face has come home to WWAY to get his news fix.

Daniel Seamans, who anchored “Good Morning Carolina” from April 2003 until December 2005, has rejoined the WWAY NewsChannel 3 news team. He will take over the evening anchor desk along with Makenzi Henderson as Chris Phillips prepares to leave the station to start a new chapter in his life. Ironically, Chris is moving to Columbia, SC, and Daniel has moved back from Columbia.

After leaving WWAY Daniel became the weekend anchor and reporter at WOLO, the ABC station in Columbia. Less than two years later the station promoted him to main anchor. In August 2010, Daniel, who grew up near Columbia and graduated from the University of South Carolina, left the station for a different career in the Capital City, but his love of news and Wilmington never left him.

For the past several years, Daniel has been a frequent visitor to the Port City and Pleasure Island, where he enjoys camping at Freeman Park. When he saw a job posting for our anchor job, he said he had to check twice to make sure he was not dreaming. We wondered the same thing when he came to interview and brought an incredible amount of energy. Things moved quickly, and a month later, here he is.

Daniel is a firm believer in being part of the community, and considering how much he loves our area and how badly he wanted to come back, you can be sure you will see him out and about a lot.

We’re glad to have Daniel back on our team, and we hope you’ll welcome him into your home weekday evenings.
