WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Happening this weekend, the No. 1 doubles tennis team in the world, the Bryan brothers, will be play an exhibition match at UNCW.
They're Olympic gold medalists and have won the career Grand Slam of tennis, but Sunday you won't find them on the clay of Roland Garros or the grass at Wimbledon. Instead they're hitting the court at Trask Coliseum.
"This is a really great time of the year for us," Bob Bryan said. "The season is behind us, and it was a long year. We traveled the world, and now we're just kind of having fun coming to great cities like this with a little bit of pressure."
The tennis legends will be playing at the event with Lenny Simpson's One Love foundation in mind. They say they hope their play will help serve underprivileged youth in the Port City.
"It's one of the greatest things you can do is give back to kids," Mike Bryan said. "It's going to be great to come to Wilmington and raise some money for a good cause and help some kids out in the process."
Bob said, "Hopefully it will inspire a couple of kids to pick up the racket and play tennis and maybe even play doubles."
Before serving up a treat for the fans, they say they're going to ace their warm-up competition: WWAY's gruesome twosome of Daniel Seamans and John Rendleman.
"We're going to have to watch out for them, but we're not going to lose to a couple of anchors out there," Mike said. "We can't wait to see their stuff."
