WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Small Business Saturday is a chance for local stores to go up against the big box stores that get packed on Black Friday.

We swung by Big Gals Boutique on S. Kerr Ave. in Wilmington to see how they are preparing for the holiday shopping season. Owners Wanda Hall and Faye Kanapaux say the secret to a successful small business is to find a specialty.

“They needed a shop of their own. That’s the reason we have growth. We specialize in a certain size of women’s fashions,” Kanapaux said.

The store won’t compete with the big stores on Thanksgiving Day, but is offering 25 percent off storewide as its Small Business Saturday special.
