WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Record Store Day may be a hidden gem among the Black Friday doorbusters, but you won’t find it at those big box stores.

Smaller shops like Gravity Records on Castle Street in Wilmington will feature limited edition music that will only be on the shelves Friday.

Gravity owner Matt Keen says the music industry holds a Record Store Day in April to offer rare records and products to small stores. This Friday is an even more limited event for the mom and pops to say thank you.

“With that product, you aren’t able to get that in mega retail stores. It is just for small record stores,” Keen said. “So on Black Friday, Record Store Day is doing a smaller Record Store Day event.”

Doors open at 9 a.m. Friday at Gravity Records. For Small Business Saturday, the shop is offering 20 percent off its gift certificates.

Support your local music stores. They are one of the last bastions of individuality and independence in this cookie cutter world we live in

Does that include the ones with spy cameras in their restrooms? That’s one last bastion of individuality I’d rather avoid.

100% positive the fine folks at Gravity Records won’t pull a stunt like Yellow Dog Discs and film you while you pee.
