WILMINGTON, NC, (WWAY) — Wilmington Police arrested a New Hanover High School student for allegedly stealing an item advertised on Craigslist.

Police said they arrested Israel Javar McCloud-Williamson, 18, saying he stole an iPhone 5 from one person and tried to steal a Playstation 4 from another. Williamson is charged with Attempted Larceny from a Person, Larceny from a Person and Possession of Stolen Goods.

The victims told police they advertised their merchandise on Craigslist. Then, on Nov. 22, Williamson contacted both victims and arranged meetings to buy their items. During one of the meetings, the victim said Williamson grabbed the cell phone and ran from the scene. Police arrested Williamson Tuesday with the cell phone still in his possession.

Williamson is in the New Hanover County Jail under a $25,000 bond.

Wilmington Police said if you use online sites to sell items you need to be very cautious when arranging face-to-face meetings. Always choose a public place and never go alone. Make sure to write down the make, model and description of any vehicles and ask for valid ID before showing merchandise.

The criminal mindset is that work is for suckers. Why work when you can get paid welfare and steal anything else you want?

Why not just get a job and buy these things yourself? If someone can enter our country illegally and have a job in less than a week, what is stopping you?

My lady loves Craigslist. I have told her many times to only meet in public places and only if I know where she is. She does because I _itch. She only buys now and sends me to meet the prospective seller. Good for her!! Darn shame. Craigslist is better than a yard sell………some days.
