WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Two Wilmington Rotary Clubs helped Nourish NC pack boxes full of food for families in need in the Cape Fear Wednesday.

Friday afternoon, the boxes will be delivered to families across the Port City to ensure they have food to eat this weekend.

Organizers said it helps children show up to school prepared and ready to learn.

“When these kids leave school on Friday, they don’t eat until Monday. It’s a struggle. So, that’s what these food boxes are. We have been doing bags but we moved to the box because they’re bigger kids. They need more food and we’re able to give them healthier food,” said Kim Karslake with Nourish NC.

Good Vibes Brewing will also sell a Christmas CD that has the music from Cape Fear musicians. The album includes unreleased tracks from Paco Strickland. All proceeds go to Nourish NC.
