Teacher of the Week: Cecelia LaGrange

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- We got a tip from a little boy's mom. April O'Conner said her son, Luke, is blessed to have Mrs. Cecelia LaGrange in his life. She called her an incredible woman who spends countless hours with children during their most formative year: kindergarten.

Mrs. LaGrange has been teaching at Bradley Creek Elementary school for 25 years, spending 22 of those years as a kindergarten teacher. It is her job to introduce children to some of the most basic concepts while keeping them excited about learning with positive reinforcement.

"It is a big responsibility and I take it very seriously," Mrs. LaGrange said.

She's molding minds while having a good time with her students. "They are the most amazing, funniest, cleverest people on the face of the earth. They make me laugh everyday. They make me smile everyday and...." she trailed off.

Dance every day?

Mrs. LaGrange keeps students smiling with her happy dance. "When they do something that is awesome," she explained. "And amazing and I didn't request it, the happiness just comes up in my feet and we do a little of this and..." she laughed as she danced!

LaGrange is humble and said she felt special because she is surrounded by so many talented teachers, including her Teacher's Assistant Jane Brunt.

Together the duo works very hard to shape the minds and hearts of the future.
