WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Two New Hanover County schools have won US Cellular’s Calling All Communities campaign awarding them a total of $50,000.

US Cellular surprised both Sunset Park Elementary School and Williston Middle School with $25,000 to spend as they wish.

Sunset Park Principal Jakki Jethro say she has big plans for the money.

“We’re going to add some technology to our classrooms for our teachers and small group instruction,” she said. “We are going to give our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade playground some much needed updates, and I’m thinking this is even going to create an extra part-time position in New Hanover County Schools with an addition of an instructional tutor.”

Jethro says they are very thankful to everyone who voted and made this big win happen.
