Police searching for two suspects they say stole go-kart from business

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Police are still searching for two suspects who they say stole a go-kart from a Wilmington business overnight.

Wilmington Police got the call from an employee at Mad Mike's Scooters and Cycles in the 2800 block of Carolina Beach Road. Police say the caller noticed three suspects loading go-karts into the back of an SUV just after 2 a.m.

Police say officers followed and stopped the SUV on Bloomfield Lane near 17th Street. That's when they say the three men jumped out of the vehicle and took off running. After officers called in a K9 unit to help in the search for the suspects, they caught up with one of them and arrested him.

Police say that man, Javon Rashard Stringfield, 27, of Pender County, was wanted on warrants for a probation violation. Stringfield is charged with resisting and delaying officers, larceny and the probation violation he was wanted for before the crime.

Police say they are still on the search for the other two suspects. They say the employee who witnessed the men stealing the go-karts told police one of the three black men was wearing a red shirt, and another was wearing a black shirt or jacket. Police say they found a red shirt near the scene. They say the employee didn't get a good luck at the third suspect who they believe is still on the loose.

"just after 2 a.m."?

That's when an employee witnessed this? At 2 a.m.? Really?

Why would he have been there at that hour?

Lives there

They live at the business.
