LELAND, NC (WWAY) -- Folks decorated more than the tree for the holidays this weekend. Cars, bikes and even people dressed up with ornaments and tinsel for the North Carolina Christmas Festival Parade in Leland.
Everyone from the mayor of Leland to the Matthews Quintuplets to our own members of the WWAY News team Makenzi Henderson and Daniel Seamans were there.
Kids enjoy watching the parade and collecting candy, while parents like that it's another way to celebrate and get to know the community they live in.
"It’s great to give the public the chance to put things in the parade and go out and watch the parade, and see your local fire department," said spectator Tim Arneson. "You need to have events to celebrate, like this one here and there is a Christmas parade. They even have a Saint Patty’s day parade in town."
The parade was scheduled to carry on rain or shine. Luckily, the rain held off, and spectators lined Village Road instead of staying in their cars.
