WILMINGTON, NC (STARNEWSONLINE.COM) — For anyone whose appetite has been piqued by the sight of painters, plumbers and other contractors making improvements to the former Zaxby's location at 4409 S. 17th St., those cravings will soon be sated with chicken as a new owner prepares to reopen a Zaxby's at the same spot.

Across town, the Walmart at 5226 Sigmon Road off Market Street has a new partner. Popular drive-through burger chain Checkers has opened a sit-down outpost inside the retail giant's walls, part of a brand-wide expansion throughout the South.

Meanwhile, the rumor mill is in full swing down in Monkey Junction. Online chatter indicates a great deal of enthusiasm about a possible Cook-Out location opening in the former Taco Bell property at 5615 Carolina Beach Road. Multiple calls to corporate headquarters over the past month received the repeated refrain that the brand's policy is to neither confirm nor deny any intentions of moving into the spot.
