READ MORE:

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Police say a man is in the hospital this morning after two men followed him to the door of his Wilmington home, beat him with baseball bats, and took off with cash and his car.

Wilmington Police say around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, a man who was walking from his car to the door of his house at 2113 Adams Street heard footsteps behind him. They say the man then turned around to see two black men in all black clothing with masks covering their faces.

That's when police say the duo pushed the man into his home and demanding money, before they began beating him with baseball bats. Police say the two men rummaged through things inside his house and then the victim's pockets, where they found and stole about $150 in cash, a cell phone and keys to the victim's girlfriend's car.

After that, police say the suspects took off in the victim's 2002 white, 4-door Hyundai Sonata. Wilmington Police are investigating the crime, and say they are on the lookout for the stolen car, which has North Carolina plates that read XAH-1005.

Police say the victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. They say he has since been released.
