MONKEY JUNCTION, NC (WWAY) -- The charges continue to pile up for a pair of teenagers arrested earlier this month in New Hanover County.
Jacob Arthur and his girlfriend Nicole Thoos, both 17, were arrested Dec. 10 for three stolen vehicles and a string of other recent crimes.
Investigators say a man woke up that morning at 5 a.m. and found someone in his bedroom at his home on Beamon Lane near Monkey Junction.
The victim stated the suspect told him, "Don't move, or I'll kill you." When the victim realized the suspect did not have a gun, he fought with the teen.
The suspect got away, but the victim had ripped off enough of the suspect's clothes that he was easily identifiable.
Deputies found Arthur a couple of streets away. Deputies say they also located the vehicle Arthur was driving, which was stolen over the weekend. A search of the car turned up multiple stolen items and the evidence was enough to link Thoos to the crimes.
Since their arrest, detectives have also connected Arthur and Thoos to other B&E's in the area.
Arthur is charged with three counts of first-degree burglary, one count of attempted burglary, two counts of larceny of a firearm, four counts of larceny of a motor vehicle, six counts of felony conspiracy, three counts of financial card theft 13 counts of breaking and entering motor vehicle, two counts of misdemeanor larceny and one count of property damage. He is now in the custody of the NC Department of Corrections on previous charges.
Thoos is charged with one counts of first-degree burglary, one count common law robbery, one count larceny of a firearm, three counts larceny of a motor vehicle, seven counts felony conspiracy, one count breaking and entering motor vehicle. She is in the New Hanover County Jail under $88,000 secure bond.
