WILMINGTON, NC, (WWAY) -- The Coast Guard flew in a 56-year-old woman early Monday morning from a cruise ship about 225 miles southeast of the Bahamas.
According to a news release, the crew aboard the 915-foot cruise ship Grandeur of the Seas notified watchstanders at the Fifth District Command Center Sunday night, saying the woman was in medical distress.
The crew left the Coast Guard Air Station from Elizabeth City, N.C., at 3:30 a.m. Monday.
Their Jayhawk helicopter arrived on scene at 6:20 a.m., hoisted the woman and took her to New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, N.C.
The woman was in stable condition.
