WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – With Christmas just two days away, last minute shoppers rushed around town Monday checking names of their Christmas lists.
“We’re seeing the deer and the headlights kind of husband coming in,” said Beatrice Vonville of Candles Etc. in Downtown Wilmington.
But some think waiting till the last minute to buy that perfect present actually works to their advantage.
“That’s exactly it, I work better under pressure,” said Brenda Maccrimmon.
Maccrimmon was shopping Downtown with her brother when she found what she would be wrapping up for him this year.
“He is going to see it because he is right behind me, but I think this is perfect. This is my brother all the way,” she laughed as she held up a t-shirt that read “I’d rather be sleeping.”
Across town at the Independence Mall, others were preparing for a busy day of errands so they can enjoy Christmas Eve with loved ones.
“I’m done today. Tomorrow is all about family and spending time with my mom,” said Susan Harrison.
“I believe we are going to get it all out of the way today so we can go to the aquarium tomorrow,” said Vince Cicchino.
Not everyone plans on relaxing though. Some say they are going to brave the crowds, and the parking lots one more day.
“Tomorrow is my last day cause I waitress. I save all my tip money so every day after I work I come here,” said Allie Simmons.
If you still haven’t finished your shopping, the Independence Mall is open until 10 pm Monday and opens at 7 am Tuesday.
