Teens charged with armed robbery of business

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- New Hanover County Sheriff's deputies have charged two teens after an armed robbery at a business.

Deputies responded late Friday afternoon to a call for an armed robbery at the All Metal Recycling at 1413-B Castle Hayne Road. The victim said three black males wearing ski masks robbed him of cash and his phone at gunpoint inside the business before taking off.

The investigation led detectives to to two suspects. They found Dvonta Robbins, 18, and Jason Kelly, 16, walking along MLK Parkway toward the Isabel Holmes Bridge about two hours later. Detectives arrestedthe teens and charged them with robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery.

The investigation continues.

Robbins is in jail under $250,000 bond.
