WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — New Hanover County Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a man who tried to rob the Pit Stop convenience store at 4902 Carolina Beach Rd.

Investigators say just before midnight a white male 20-30 years old with light facial hair, wearing blue jeans, black hoodie, dark tennis shoes, dark gloves and carrying a black backpack entered the store and pointed a shotgun at the clerk. The man demanded money from the register, which was empty due to the store closing for the night. He then demanded the clerk open the safe. The employee could not open the safe, so the robber walked out.

Anyone with information on the robbery should contact the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office at (910) 798-4162.

Detectives probably already are, but they should check people with (recent-ish) prior felony arrests in the Silva Terra area and generally the CB Road corridor.

This kind of person gives drug users a bad name (trust me – if he’s willing to tote a shotgun to a gas station to rob it for <$200, then he is on drugs.) Not all of us are willing to rob/steal/kill for a "fix". In fact, some of us can use in a socially and financially responsible manner. Shame that I have to stay "in the closet" while my idiot co-workers discuss boozing irresponsibly every Monday and Friday.

SOME (though we are a minority in the our demographic)of us are truly productive citizens that just rely on a substance to get through the day (caffeine anyone?) or just like to catch a buzz. Is that sooooo evil?

You never know, I might be wasting time on the internet in the same office as you.
