WILMINGTON, NC, (WWAY) — Wilmington Police Chief Ralph Evangelous said Tuesday night we are one step closer to getting the results of an internal investigation.

Ofc. Stafford Brister is under investigation of whether he used excessive force when using a police dog against Johnnie Lee Williams in November.

Evangelous said the Internal Affairs Division is done with its investigation, and they're now just reviewing the evidence.

He says the written report should be released within the next ten days.

The cop was justified. I only wish he had taken off that man’s face. That was the purpose of whole thing. If that man’s face had been disfigured for life he would be forever wearing the officer’s mark. That is what is called a “cop tat”.

Some cop tats are temporary, just look at the mug shots in brunswick County. Almost everyone, man or woman has been tatted on the face. You know, just say they are resisting, even when they are not and ya got the right to give them a cop tat. Unfortuantely, most of these are temporary.

So, I am merely givin’ yall the heads up. The cop is innocent. I mean if he’s found guilty it will make the scum trash public think they have rights once they are on the radar and even worse they may think they are equal to or (god forbid) over and above cops.

Cops are here to oversee the herd and cull out all miscreants by any means possible. I for one felt threatened on behalf of the officer. KUDOS to you officer whatsyourname! and Hail Hitler!

Yes, the cops were PO’d at the guy, but that is no reason to forego professionalism. The man was surrendering with his hands in plain sight. One cop pushes a police dog through an open window while another one (still haven’t figured out why) pounded on the passenger window like some kind of out of control mentally-challenged being, obviously totally enjoying what was going on. Jeez…….no wonder people flee from blue lights. These guys are total nuts!

After a complete investigation, the officer did what was necessary to control the situation at the time. The officer should be given a metal for protecting the public.

If it were only that simple. Unfortunately for the officer, unless he is part of the clique, he will soon get the shaft. That is how it works in WPD. If you are part of the clique, you can not only break policy, but laws and keep your job.

Well here we go again lets hang out to dry a K9 officer who was doing his job protecting the public, yet because the video shows him helping his K9 into a car window, well my question is this, why the hell didn’t this guy stop when he was lite up with blue lights , you get blue lights behind you, you stop and by the way who was the crimnal that was involved, most likely a felon , yet while most of us are sleeping this K9 officer and his K9 partner are out there trying to keep our town safe, This man’s reputation as an officer is outstanding, I’m pissed that our chief of police sold this officer down the drain to make himself look good, of course now we have the NACP SCREAMING foul yet other then in the hood, most of us would applaud this officers action in the heat of the chase, How many years does it take for a k9 officer to become proficent with his partner yet our chief of police is going to listen to a few and demote this outstanding K9 officer who has years of experience, back to patrol, I think its time we need a new chief , one that doesnt sell his men out, that and this department needs a stronger union to protect its men, the chiefs not he to worried about his job c fire the chief

The Cheif doesn’t have the guts to fire him..He’ll be back to work soon

The Chief has no reason to fire him. K-9 Brister did the right thing, by using the dog, to eliminate the deadly threat Mr. Williams presented. As a result of the dog being used, nobody was shot, run over, or even badly cut. I believe Mr. Williams received only minor scratches.

As for the Chief: he did the right thing too. Thou false, these were serious accusations. Anytime a serious accusation, or a officer involved shooting occurs, the SBI should investigate. He allowed the situation to be fully investigated, by outside agencies. Now, nobody can say there was a “conflict of interests” from the Police investigating themselves, or that “every stone wasn’t turned”.
