Police identify man wanted for shooting last night

NAVASSA, NC (WWAY) -- Navassa Police have identified a man wanted for a shooting late last night.

Anthony Anderson is wanted for the shooting of Tyson McMillan.

If you see Anderson, call the Navassa Police Department at (910) 371-0155 or 911.

Police say they consider Anderson armed and dangerous.

Call 911 or the Brunswick County Sheriff. If you call the Navassa Police number you get an answering machine.

Makes sense

Navassa currently only has a chief and 1 officer. They are badly understaffed but it is my understanding they have people ready to work as soon as the state clears them.

It has been that way for the last seven years, but having two officers out on disability does not help. In the past, a car would patrol my neighborhood once an hour. I would rather have them in a car driving around than answering the phone. A message left would get returned within an hour. Evidently the officer would stop by the station during their patrol to check messages.
