KURE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Leaders from New Hanover County’s three beach towns and state legislators met this morning to discuss a number of issues.

They talked about proposing a bill to give towns more control over spending some room occupancy tax moeny.

Kure Beach wants to use it for beach renourishment.

“We can have some flexibility on how we spend that money instead of doing just marketing right now,” Kure Beach Mayor Dean Lambeth said. “Our legislators were in agreement that they would put a bill through so we could start doing that.”

For Kure Beach that would be about $170,000 toward fixing up the beach strand.
