BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Deputies in Brunswick County are investigating after they say a man was stabbed during a fight in the street earlier tonight.

A spokeswoman with the sheriff’s office says it happened around 6 p.m. on Grist Creek Wynd near Northwest. She says it all started with an argument that led to a fight between family, and left a man stabbed.

William Edward Kelly, 33, of Tabrose Court, Leland, has been arrested for two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
He is currently being held in the Brunswick County detention Facility under a $2,000 bond. Kelly is charges with hitting a female victim in the head with a wooden board and stabbing a male victim.

Kelly was taken into custody shortly being located with the aid of Air One.

I live just around the corner from where all of this happened..I was stopped just before my road by a Deputy and then again as I turned onto my road. I was informed of what happened, and the man was on the run. I told them I lived down the road where there is NO light, just 2 houses and me…they offered to come check out my place for me as I was alone. Right about the time I got back in my car and went to the corner to ask if someone would check out my shed, car swooped in on the corner house, and the Air One went flying overhead. I knew by their actions they had located the man- hiding outside of a home with little children inside. It was a very scary time for me, and I would like to thank the BCSO for being so informative and offering to help me at my house. I hope the couple injured recover, and for the first time in 8 years, I was terrified of where I lived. Thanks for getting him!

I would like to thank the BCSO for their help and information given to me as I drove to my home last night. I live only 4 houses down from where the suspect was apprehended and was terrified to get out of my car and start turning on outside lights. There is nothing but acres around and behind me, and by the time I went back to the corner, they had located the man. They kept calm and firm when instructing me on what to do when I got to my house. The Air One was right over top of me…glad you got him and thanks for your help!
