NEW HANOVER CO., NC (WWAY) -- Girl Scouts kick-off cookie sales this week.
More than 7,000 boxes of cookies were picked up by troop Cookie Moms and Dads.
Gluten-free chocolate chip and cranberry citrus are new flavors to the Girl Scout's cookie line-up.
Recruitment Director Brooke Banson says, "more than just a box determines their success. The girls use it to fund local service projects, community projects. They decide how to spend the money, so they get to use that to fund their activities and fun trips throughout the year."
One cookie mom told WWAY her troop plans to use sale money to swim with the stingrays at Myrtle Beach.
If you forgot to order your case of thin mints, don't worry. You can visit cookie booths at area businesses throughout March.
