WPD investigating armed robbery

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Wilmington Police are looking for a man they say robbed another man at gunpoint in the 3100 block of Market Street.

Lieutenant Blanton said just after 5pm Saturday evening, a taxi cab driver, who was not on duty, was driving around a friend when he pulled over to throw trash away near Dr. Stylz.

That's when investigators say the suspect got into the back seat of the taxi and pistol whipped the passenger.

The suspect, who police say is a white male, about 25-years-old with a shaved head ran towards Montgomery Avenue with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Investigators say he is wearing a grey sweatshirt and black pants.

They do not know if he is still armed.

Ever Think

Cabbies 9.9999% of the time dispose of Trash at Fuel Stops & Fast Food Parking Lots. Is it just me or MAYBE the Cabbie knew his friend had a lot of money with him and was in on the robbery? Its so stranfe how the Cabbie decided to use Stylez parking lot to throw out trash and just happened to be out of cab and see nothing. And why wouldnt a pistol whipping Criminal rob the cab driver as well? Are you REALLY investigating this one or just shelving it?

Wilmington Police continously fail to check Cabs on a regular basis while driving in Wilmington. Most Drug Dealers and Prostitutes use Cabs to conduct business. How do I know? Drive a Cab and see for yourself qhat an ear in the corrupt industry in Wilmington NC will tell you. Throwing out trash or helping a drug sale? You decide.

Yeeeah....this story stinks

Yeeeah....this story stinks of b/s all the way through:
a. the driver "was not on duty but driving a friend around" YET - he just happened to be parked at 30th & Market counting his "hundreds"??
b. Better yet - in the ten seconds he "pulled over to throw trash away" he decided to sit and count his "hundreds" while "off duty"?
c. Any CAB DRIVER is going to let other cab drivers know what happened - they won't hide behind anonymity - that is unless your cab is illegal and you don't belong in Wilmington picking people up?
Glad this driver wasn't seriously injured or killed but he really needs to smarten up from the looks of the facts in this story.
