PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) – Come May your vote to go to an unlikely candidate, running in the Democratic Primary election for US Senate.

Will Stewart says he can be the voice of the people in Washington regardless of his lack of political experience.

"People in Washington generally have a disconnect with the people. I mean, I don't feel like they are representing the everyday, 'Average Joe',” said Stewart.

Aside from fixing computers, the 31-year-old takes online classes at West Governors University.

The political newcomer is on track to receive a degree for business management information technology this year.

"I am a hard working guy,” he said.

This guy is going to put plenty of hard work into competing with Senator Kay Hagan to win the Democrat nomination.

“Too many of our politician's opponents go unnoticed because they do not have the financial support,” said Stewart.

Stewart will run a low budget campaign completely alone, but said that might appeal to constituents. He says corporations throw millions of dollars to fund incumbent’s campaigns to keep their hands on powerful seats.

“People don't want corporations to be represented on Capitol Hill,” said Stewart. “They want people to be represented on Capitol Hill.”

Stewart said he plans on going door-to-door to meet as many people as possible before the ballots are cast.

"I've had people that feel this is absolutely the best thing that could happen in North Carolina and I've had others that think I'm just absolutely crazy. You know, I can't say that I blame them,” said Stewart.

We reached out to Senator Hagan’s office but her communications director said they had no comment on Stewart’s candidacy.

As a registered Democrat who hasn’t voted for a member of my party on the national ticket since Jimmy Carter, I’m all for this guy challenging Hag Hagan. Rise up closet conservatives in the demo party, let’s beat her in the primary, then we can find out where Stewart stands on the issues before we elect Tillis.

I have been to his website and I will not replace one Obama bot for another one. This guy is not old enough to know what this country needs nor has he done enough research to find out. I am a registered Democrat and I do not vote for Democrats these days because of this liberal mindset they all have. It is all about giving away something from someone else and then keep giving when they are out and will not work. Sorry, but I will just not vote in the Dem primary but I can assure you, in November, I will vote AGAINST anyone with this kids mindset!
