WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington man called WPD to tell them he scared off a would-be intruder. It all happened at 715 Mercer Avenue around 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

The man told police he heard someone breaking into his home, so he yelled to scare the person off. By the time the resident got to the door he saw a black man in a red jacket running away. It appeared that he used a shovel to try to pry the window open.

But the suspect left his bike behind. Now officers have the bike and are processing it and its tracks in hopes of finding leads

He would not have been yelled at had he made the poor choice to do this at my house while I was home, having been a victim of 3 break-ins in 5 years!! He would have most likely still been there when the cops arrived.

I read somewhere recently that you can’t fix stupid, but you can outlaw warning labels and let the problem sort itself out.

Anyone seen “Mars Attacks” with Slim Whitman music scaring off the aliens?

Hmmm, could this be the work of the guy busted for B&E and stealing from Wrightsville Avenue around 1:30 that afternoon?
