Shoppers flock to grocery stores ahead of storm

LELAND, NC (WWAY) -- Shoppers flocked to local grocery stores Monday to stock up on the essentials before the winter blast.

The Assistant Manager at the Piggly Wiggly on Village Road in Leland says he has seen an increase in business.

He says people are spooked by the storm and coming in to buy milk, bread, eggs and water.

"I think people are just preparing for whatever happens tomorrow. People just want to be prepared," said Brian Waddell, Assistant Store Manager.

Waddell says the store will continue to restock its shelves while supplies last.

milk and bread

It cracks me up how people always buy milk and bread before a storm. I have lived in NC my whole life from the mountains to the coast and every one seems to need milk and bread during a snow storm. Cracks me up.

I understand wanting to get

I understand wanting to get bread in case the power goes out, but why do people buy the milk for a storm?

i have one word to say .

i have one word to say . idiots it be all gone thur,

I bet there isn't a loaf of

I bet there isn't a loaf of bread or a gallon of milk to be seen for miles tonight....

Storm freaks

It happens every time . What get's me the most is that most of these people have lived up north and this is how they react . Guess you couldn't drive up there then like you can't drive now . Stop freaking . This will pass . Your wasting your time . Get over it . And by the way stay off the road . Other people will be conducting commerce . Step aside .

I could see the need to go

I could see the need to go shopping if they were expecting snow like we had in '89, but I don't see stores being closed that long.
