LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Shoppers flocked to local grocery stores Monday to stock up on the essentials before the winter blast.

The Assistant Manager at the Piggly Wiggly on Village Road in Leland says he has seen an increase in business.

He says people are spooked by the storm and coming in to buy milk, bread, eggs and water.

“I think people are just preparing for whatever happens tomorrow. People just want to be prepared,” said Brian Waddell, Assistant Store Manager.

Waddell says the store will continue to restock its shelves while supplies last.
