WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Each year, nearly half a million women die from cardiovascular disease. Robin Harper, RN, founded the NHRMC Red Dress event and said, "Women can't afford to wait until symptoms appear. They need to be empowered with knowledge early on so they can protect themselves against this deadly disease."
The event has grown in popularity over the years. Last year, more than 500 women flocked to the Wilmington Convention Center to celebrate healthy hearts and raise awareness about heart disease. This year's event is chaired by Dr. Cynthia Bowers-Lee. During a live interview for GMC, she said it is empowering to see so many women taking control of their health in the Cape Fear.
The Red Dress Luncheon is Friday, February 7. The Vender show and social hour kicks off at 11 a.m. followed by a fabulous lunch at noon at the Wilmington Convention Center.
