WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A man who came home to find some late-night intruders over the weekend played drunk to gain the upper hand.

Wilmington Police say the 37-year-old man came home to his apartment at 21 N. Front St. just before 3 a.m. Saturday and found the door open. When he walked inside police say he found two men. One of the men ran into the victim’s bedroom.

Police say the victim pretended to be drunk, went to a safe, pulled out a gun and told the men to leave. One of the intruders took off running. The victim held the other at gunpoint outside the apartment shortly before telling him to get out.

The victim said drawers and other items were open inside the apartment, but nothing seemed to be missing.

When police arrived the two suspects were long gone.

He should have shot him and told the cops that the intruder reached into his pocket and refused to take his hand out. Case closed.
