WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Airlie Gardens got a little greener today.
Volunteers came out for the first ever "tree mob." They planted more than four-hundred trees around the grounds.
The trees were donated from last month's TreeFest.
Volunteers said getting their hands dirty keeps them young, but maybe not young enough to see the saplings grow to full height.
"We are trying to fill in and trying to bring it back to more of the forest that it was," volunteer Annie Terry said. "It could take a while good while. I hope I'll be here. I'll be out here checking and measuring."
Organizers say they hope to make this an annual event.
