Police: Wouldbe thief caught with arms still inside ATM

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- A Leland man is in jail charged with breaking into an ATM in Wilmington.

Wilmington Police spokeswoman Linda Rawley said officers responded to a call Thursday at 6:45 a.m. for a breaking and entering in progress at the CashPoints ATM at 1929 Oleander Dr.

When officers arrived, Rawley said, they found Robert Warren Ward, 60, with his arms still inside the ATM. They say he had prying tools, and the front of the ATM was damaged.

Ward is charged with breaking and entering, safecracking and possession of burglary tools.

Records show Ward served prison time for a 2010 conviction for drug possession.

Real Brainiac; like a few

Real Brainiac; like a few prying tools would open the enclosed safe!

He appears pretty happy!

Probably will be glad to get back to a free housing, 3 free meals a day and an environment where he doesn't have to lift a finger to do anything for himself.
