WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — CFPUA has issued a boil water advisory for hundreds of customers in the Landfall and Middle Sound Loop areas of New Hanover County after several water main breaks in the Ogden area.

CFPUA says this boil water advisory is being issued as a precaution because periods of low or no pressure increase the potential for the introduction of bacteria into the water system. Affected customers should boil their water for one minute then allow it to cool before consuming or using it, or they should use another source, like bottled water.

According to CFPUA spokesman Mike McGill, crews were already working to repair a leak near the intersection of Covil Farm and Military Cutoff Road. He says during the work yesterday, though, crews discovered pipes they did not know were there. He says crews continue investigating and working to fix that break before workers are moved to the other two breaks.

McGill says another water main broke this morning nearby at Paradise Way and Military Cutoff in the Pebble Cove community. CFPUA says they then began getting calls about a water main break on Middle Sound Loop Road in the Ogden area.

Doesn’t mean the attempts weren’t made. You probably were told earlier (per the public notice rule requirements). Getting something posted on a media website for your knowledge is very different than the public notice to customers the state requires.

According to the time on this story. 1:09pm it is more than. 7 hrs. Since the line broke…. why the delay cfpua ??? Don’t you think we should have been told much earlier…

While I dislike the CFPUA as much as the next person, the problems they face today are the result of the pi**-poor maintenance the water system received during the years the City of Wilmington and New Hanover County were in charge. I agree we’re paying more, but it’s the City and County who deserve our wrath.

That being said, the CFPUA is one of the most top-heavy organizations we have in our area. Far too many “chiefs” and nary enough indians. Except the “indians” can often be found in the parking lot of Food Lion on 16th Street at 8am eating their breakfast and drinking their coffee.

I love the way we continue to pay more to CFPUA and they continue to give us a poor product!

Ms. Carpenito…I love how bad at math your probably were in school, and yet here you are with an internet connection and an opinion. Do you have any understanding at all as to why the CFPUA was created and what it costs to replace infrastructure (nearly a whole system) that is 70 years old?

I don’t work for CFPUA nor do I have a dog in the fight (live in Rocky Point)…but watching the grand parade ignorant people comment and bash organizations without any understand of the size and scope of the problems is sad.

Probably they should have just left thing to themselves and it would all be better, right?

Isn’t there some reality show you should be watching?

Seems you live in RP like I do perhaps you have no idea exactly what CFU customers pay for water. You may be on a well (as I am) being we both live in the boonies. If I had a 200$ water bill I would be fuming as well. CFU has had how many years to repair or replace pipes, instead they wait for them to burst. You are rude.

But you are clueless. You fail to understand the challenges our nation faces when it comes to infrastructure…roads, bridges, and water and sewer. Those customers pay about middle of the pack on their rates in this state according to the research I’ve seen.

The fact is, we have failed to maintain just about everything in this country, then when we want to go replace it, are surprised it cost more. It seesm has forgotten needs versus wants. I’m sure the woman complaining about her water bill has about every new electronic gadget along with her kids, but then complains about the cost of her vital service instead of her 300 dollar monthly cell phone bill.

Those folks in West Virginia sure learned quick how important their water was.

How about you fetch some well water and bake a pie? How’s that for rude?

Question: Do people in Landfall even know how to boil their own water?

Yes. Now, don’t stay stuck on stupid and you may be able to move into a trailer with a stove where you can boil water yourself.

Whoever commented on whether people in Landfall even know how to boil water is highly offensive. I live in Lanfall and not only do I know how to boil water, I can feed the person who wrote this comment a really nice meal cooked by me. Although I do not have to explain to this person, I also clean my own house. But wait, this person will probably say that this is not a big deal because a lot of people do their own cleaning. Why I am saying this is please, do not make assumptions by just where one lives. People in any area might not know how to boil water. Please, do NOT be jealous!!!! My husband and I have worked hard to get to where we are. Think before you write!
