WPD K9 Arko Remembered

READ MORE:

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – Wilmington Police honored one of their own Wednesday.

Arko was euthanized last month because of a medical condition.

The 11-year-old canine served with the Wilmington Police Department since 2005 and was due to retire this month.

Chief Ralph Evangelous says the K9 Unit is an important part of fighting crime in our area.

“They are fearless. They work every day and they don’t take a day off, “ Evangelous said. “They just do a great job for us.”

WPD says Arko and his handler were responsible for numerous arrests and narcotic seizures during his career.

RIP Arko.

RIP Arko.

Typical, he speaks out both sides

Chief Ralph Evangelous says the K9 Unit is an important part of fighting crime in our area.

Yet he decided to take Officer Brister off K-9 duty and has his dog just sitting around. Good job there chief.

Why would you even comment

Why would you even comment about Officer Brister in this section. This story was meant to remember and cherish Arko's life and contributions to this city. Stop making it about someone else. RIP Arko, you did a damn good job.

Because chief brought it up

He is the one that said K9's are very important yet he is benching part of the team.

Just pointing out how he talks out of both sides of his mouth at the same time. He should be a politician.

Well said, guestabc! The

Well said, guestabc! The real reason is that "guesty" has limited intellect, anger problems and a small "male member" and is mad at the world because of these things....

Again

I've told you to stop looking in my window while I'm dressing.

:-'(

Thank you for your service Arko.

Good Boy

We'll miss you.
