WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — This Valentine’s Day Marines and Sailors helped spread love to seniors at the Davis Community in Wilmington.

Forty-five young men and women from the 2nd Marine Division COMREL/COMSERV visited with residents.

“They are just providing a level of fun and excitement that we don’t see here every day,” Davis Community Marketing Administrator Julie Rehder said.

Some helped clean up debris left from the winter storm, while another group was serenading everyone with some jazzy love songs. After lunch they visited with veterans.

“I wanted them to open up to the veterans listen to their stories, think of somebody else on a day we’re supposed to be showing love towards others,” PO3 Brooke Lopshire, who helped organized the event, said.

These volunteers from Camp Lejeune were all singles wanting to give back.
