SURF CITY, NC (WWAY) — It is the first-of-its-kind event in Surf City. Organizers are excited to host the “Walk to Beat Heart Disease” 5K Saturday.

Heart Disease is the number one killer of Americans and walk organizer Kristie Grubb says it is important for everyone to come out and participate in the weekend walk. Money will stay local to help elder care and the American Heart Association.

The walk begins at 9 a.m. at the Surf City Community Center, but if you haven’t registered yet, you should arrive by 8 a.m. to get all of your paperwork completed and pick out a shirt. You can get all the details by watching the full interview from Good Morning Carolina.
