Armed robbery suspect arrested trying to rob again


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Police say an armed robbery suspect is in custody after trying to rob again.

Allen Blackwelder is behind bars after police say he stole money from a coin operated machine at the Auto Track car wash on Shipyard Boulevard

According to police, employees saw Blackwelder leaving the office near the rear of the business Saturday afternoon.

Police say when employees approached Blackwelder, he ran into a van in the Arby's parking lot.

Employees followed, and that's when police say Blackwelder pulled a knife on the employees and said he had a gun.

The victim was able to get the tag numbers from the van, and police say Blackwelder was arrested soon after trying to rob another car wash.

Blackwelder is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, breaking and entering, breaking and entering in a coin currency machine, possession of burglary tools, and larceny.
