WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington City Council once again talked about the future of the Water Street parking deck Tuesday night.

The UNC School of Government’s Development Finance Initiative, or DFI, again suggested a mix of use of parking, retail and housing.

The City Council didn’t take any action tonight. And now the city and DFI will gather public input to finalize a recommendation that will be presented in the spring.

I live down town and love it. What we really need is a grocery store. Not a super market but a locally owned and operated grocery store. Knock down the old dilapidated parking deck and build a grocery store. We need it and it will do very well.

But, that would make sense. Never gonna happen.

On any given weekday or Summer weekend, the deck is at least three-quarters full.

Where do you expect those people to park?

One big question. How much did the city pay for this company and their recommendation? What ever it was, we got robbed. My son could develop a better plan and he is 14 y/o. Also, what qualifications do you need to be a Special Assistant to the City Manager? Well I know proper grammar and obeying all traffic laws were not two of them. Let us not forget that Roger Johnson is the city employee that failed to stop for at least five blocks when he was cuaght speeding. Then, he pulled into a city lot and basically punked the police officer by teeling him he was late for a meeting as he walked away. I guess he thinks with rank comes priviledge. He should have been dubbed the “Teflon Rog”. Dag, I wish his name was Ron. It would have rhymed.
