Cold front brings severe weather, but quiet conditions return for weekend

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- A strong cold front produced several severe thunderstorm/tornado warnings in southeastern NC Friday afternoon. Although no tornadoes were actually confirmed, reports of downed trees were noted in several counties. Minor structural damage (mainly to gazebos and canopies) was reported in Duplin and Bladen counties.

Cooler, drier air returns behind the front- just in time for the weekend.
