WPD investigates series of explosions

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Wilmington Police say they are investigating a series of explosions around the city last night.

WPD spokeswoman Linda Rawley says officers responded to 908 Grace Street after a ShotSpotter alert. She says officers found an acid bomb was detonated.

Rawley says there were "numerous detonations" around the city last night and that police were able to verify another at 1014 Grace Street. She says they looked for another in the 400 block of Farrows Alley.

Police are trying to figure out who is responsible for the explosions.

So is that what caused all the potholes in the roads around Wilmington?

I heard an explosion around 12:00 AM near the corner of 5th and Wooster. Woke me up.
