WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- If you purchased a lottery ticket this week, you might want to double check your numbers.
Four winning Powerball tickets were sold Wednesday at locations throughout Wilmington.
"I don't know if it was a quick sheet or a quick pick yet," said Michael Clark, manager at Candy's Exxon on Carolina Beach Road. "We are waiting for them to come on back by and give us the good news."
Clark's store is one of four locations in the Port City that sold winning tickets this week.
Clark says he is not sure who the winner from his store is just yet, but he is used to selling winning tickets.
"$30,000 on a Mega Millions ticket, and they played the extra dollar, because the multiplier gave them an extra $20,000," he said of a previous big winner.
Of the four winning tickets in our area, two were for $20,000. The other two winning tickets are worth $10,000.
A spokesman for the North Carolina Education Lottery says the odds of winning were about one in 649,000.
Even though Candy's Exxon did make someone a little richer, the store will not be seeing any of the profits.
"With it being a $20,000 winner, it wasn't quite enough for us to get anything out of it, but hopefully somebody got something out of it," Clark said.
Clark says he always looks forward to seeing the winners' reaction.
"Usually it's gratitude towards the employee that sold it to them," he said, "and then it's, 'Let me pay off some bills.' That is usually the first thing or even, 'Let me buy a new car.'"
The Powerball jackpot for Saturday is now an estimated $50 million, or you could take the cash option which is only $28 million.
The other $20,000 was sold at the Scotchman on Carolina Beach Road. The $10,000 winning tickets were sold at the Food Lion on Enterprise Road and the Scotchman gas station on Eastwood Road.
