SURF CITY, NC (TOPSAIL NEWS ONLINE) -- Coastal Storm Damage: The coastal storm occurring March 6th and 7th has left many areas of the Surf City beach strand with significant dune escarpments, damage to crossovers and stairs leading to the beach, as well as related debris on the beach strand.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to use extra care in accessing the beaches. Staff are assessing the damages and will be working over the weekend to clean up loose debris and begin making repairs to public accesses.

Unsafe crossovers will be marked with caution tape and should be avoided. The sand push scheduled for this week was delayed in anticipation of bad weather, but is set to begin early next week.
