WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A cab driver got a call to pick up a customer on the 400 block of Crete Drive around 4 a.m. Sunday. Police say when he arrived someone approached him with a weapon and tried to rob him.

The driver was able to guard off and disarm the suspect. He said he then realized the weapon was a pellet gun.

The driver reportedly returned to his Brunswick County home before calling 911. Before officers could make it to his home, the cab driver sought medical attention at New Hanover County Regional Hospital.

Officers were finally able to catch up with the victim at the hospital to take a report. The victim was able to give a vague description of the suspect.

The case is still under investigation.

This story reminds me of an episode of “Cold Squad”. Two cops capture a suspect in an alley. Two of his accomplices decide they are going to stop the cops from taking him, so one of them takes out a knife. One of the cops grabs a board. The perp’s friend says “oh, look, he bought a board to a knife fight”. The other cop pulls out his gun and says “oh, look, he bought a knife to a gun fight”.

My point being – this idiot is using a pellet gun to rob someone. What if that someone was packing a real gun? The story might have ended differently,
