CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) -- If you like seafood and music, now is the time to mark your calendars for October.
The Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce today announced the headliners for the 21st Annual Seafood, Blues & Jazz Festival.
"On Saturday night, which is always our big headliner, we have five-time Grammy Award winner Robert Cray," the chamber's Mike Worley.
Cray has recorded 15 billboard charting albums and worked with artists like Eric Clapton and John Lee Hooker.
The so-called new "Queen of Blues" Shemekia Copeland will open for the Robert Cray Band Saturday, Oct, 11.
And for show on Sunday, Oct. 12, this star is the first headliner to return to the festival a second time.
"We decided to step it up again, and we are bringing in three-time Grammy Award winner Delbert McClinton," Worley said.
Damon Fowler will be his opening act.
During the two-day festival there will be two stages with acts simultaneously performing with a total of 14 bands in the weekend line up.
"There is something special about October," Worley said. "The weather is cooling down, and it is just a great time for an out door festival."
Organizers say the festival at the Fort Fisher Air Force Recreation Area is family friendly with plenty to do for kids of all ages.
