Parade, festival paint the town green

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Folks painted the town green in downtown Wilmington at the Guiness Parade and Festival.

The 15th annual parade jump started the day's activities at 11am.

Crowds flooded the sidewalks to see everything from bagpipes to marching bands.

After the parade, the fun continued with vendors, live music, and traditional Irish dancing at the day long festival.

The event is organized by the Downtown Business Alliance and Cool Wilmington.

One of the organizers with Cool Wilmington David Grace said, "This celebration really brings out some culture. We do have a lot of festivals but this is a cultural festival and that's nice to have."

The Parade is organized by the Ancient Order of Hibernian's.

The event was fun for the whole family and as always, free of charge.

Marching Bands

Why is it the last two parades I went to in Wilmington I didn't see one New Hanover county high school marching band? Do they only participate in the Azalea festival parade, I don't know if they even participate in that, I haven't been to one since I was 5.
