Verizon Wireless to hire 160 at Wilmington Call Center

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Verizon Wireless says it plans to hire 160 people at its Wilmington Call Center.

If you're interested, you'd better hurry and apply.

Verizon will interview candidates at an open house Wednesday, but you have to apply online if you want to be invited.

Kim Avery, director of the Wilmington Call Center, has been with Verizon for 14 years. She says Verizon builds careers, not just jobs. It's something she says she learned working her way up from the bottom to get where she is today.

"I started as a representative on the phone, similar to the jobs we're hiring for right now, and I've used the benefits offered by Verizon Wireless to really grow my career and to tap into my own potential," Avery said.

Interested candidates should log on to Verizon.com/jobs and apply for job number 343516. Selected candidates will receive an invitation to attend the Career Open House on Wednesday, March 19. The Open House will include an opportunity to interview with Verizon officials as well as receive a tour of the Call Center facility.

Wilmington and Kim A.

Can't see how they have room for another 160 representatives with the limited space at this time. Sure you can work your way up but it's more about who you know than the hard work. Lately, many who've been hired in the last 2-3 years have been promoted to management when other employees with 5-10-15 years are being over stressed in an attempt or hopes they will quit rather than promoting these employees.

Starting pay and benefits have declined over the last 5-10 years. Think of this as nothing more than a job and if your looking to move into the managing ranks I hope your integrity wins out over the lack there of in many managing this call center at present. Take your career and use Verizon as nothing more than a resume builder.

Good Luck
