WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — One unit at the Pines Apartments is destroyed after a fire Saturday.

Wilmington Fire Department responded to the call at 2603 Constitution Blvd around 3:15pm Saturday, March 22nd.

No one was home when the flames took over the living room of the first floor apartment.

Fire fighters were able to stop the fire and reduce carbon monoxide levels.

Investigators sifted through the charred remains for hours, but were unable to determine a cause.

The apartment’s occupants have been relocated.

Damages on the structure and contents are upward of $25,000.

One sentence says: “The apartment’s occupants have been relocated.”

Yet the title says: “Fire claims empty apartment, cause remains unknown.”

So…how do you relocate the occupants of an empty apartment?
