WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear Community College students gave back in a big way Monday morning.

Students from the advanced cosmetology program donated about 20 wigs to the American Cancer Society.

Students reached into their pockets to buy the materials used to make the hair pieces.

Chelsea Barone said she was happy to spend her tax returns on such a great cause.

“It was fun to be able to spend it on doing something good for some people. Some of the other students who are not fortunate enough to have the money worked together. We had two or three students doing one project so they could make it more affordable for everyone.”

The wigs are made from human air and took about a day to make.
