WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- A Wilmington woman faces assault charges after police say she stabbed and punched family members at a home over the weekend.
Police say they got the call just before 10 p.m. from a family gathering at 820 N. 5th Avenue. Officers say witnesses told them a female family member grabbed a knife out of the kitchen before she began yelling, waving the knife around at children inside.
That's when some family members stepped in to confront the woman. Police say she threatened several others with the knife, trying to slash at another child's face, finally punching one of them in the head. They say she then stabbed her sister in the arm, leaving a large laceration.
Police caught up with the woman, Jacqueline Denice Williams, 49, a little later after she took off in a car from the home. She is charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
